Check out our feature on San Antonio Kid

Back in the very first post on Garagerocktopia, one of the things we said we hoped to accomplish was to bring together the various strains of what we call garage rock, and proto-punk, and freakbeat and power pop. To this point, we're very proud of what we've accomplished.

Nearly all of the acts we have featured have gotten some degree of national and international airplay via Little Steven's Underground Garage. We've admitted many times that this radio show (and satellite radio station) was a huge inspiration for this blog. And at times, it has been pretty much the unofficial blog for that entity.

We continue to dig LSUG and discover new, extremely cool music all the time. But there are also worlds of garage rock, and power pop, and proto-punk that are so far underground, or so new anyway, that they haven't yet -- or may never -- appear on that esteemed outlet.

But here at Garagerocktopia, we're not about who's being played where. We're about cool music -- whether it's something from the '60s that inspired a whole generation of rockers, to artists who right now -- perhaps even as we speak -- are creating cool music. This music may stay anonymous, just hoping for somebody to discover it -- or it may blaze the path to a whole new sound.

We're not just about legendary bands or artists with "the Coolest Song in the World." We are also looking to feature artists whose music is just as cool but for whatever reason, haven't attracted the attention they deserve.

Our next feature will be an incredibly cool band from Germany called San Antonio Kid. Their music is absolutely the kind of music Garagerocktopia is all about, but they are also a bit different. While most of the groups on this blog look to the Beatles and American Blues, San Antonio Kid's inspiration comes in no small part from the cowboy traditions of the American Southwest, plus a lot of other very logical influences. At risk of not sounding as professional as we should, we really hope to turn some folks on to a very deserving band.

Check back Sunday for oour feature on San Antonio Kid. And, ROCK ON!!!
